Mid-Semester Update

TCC Family,

As I move into my third month in the Interim President role, I want to say how grateful I am for all the encouragement I have received from many of you. It means more than you know. One of the most important things to me as a teammate (regardless of my position moving forward) is the culture of friendship and camaraderie we have here at the College. I am proud to say that this is the best organization I have been a part of in my career. We make it easy to belong, make lasting relationships, and find meaningful work.

If we look back over the last year, we have several significant things to celebrate and hold forth as examples of this meaningful work. Notably:

  • 10-year reaffirmation of our regional accreditation
  • Nearly a 14% year-over-year NCLEX improvement rate
  • Receiving a commitment of over $1 million in the Choose Ohio First grant
  • Implementation of our Biology Learning Labs, which led to an 8% increase in student pass rate (and shows no signs of stopping)
  • The launch of a new strategic plan that charts our growth over the next three years

While not completed as of today, we can also anticipate celebrating the following milestones:

  • Graduating our first-ever sonography class
  • Enrolling students in our new Rad Tech degree (we recently received authorization from the Ohio Department of Education and are anticipating approval from the Higher Learning Commission)
  • Hiring our fifth College President

I point all of this out as a reminder that we are a College heading in the right direction. Our momentum is not slowing down, even in the face of our challenges. This team of faculty, staff, and administrators is well-prepared heading into the next academic year. Take some time to congratulate and encourage each other. It really does mean more than you know!
